some stray september sentiments

as of a week ago my age now rounds to 30, if you are rounding to one significant figure and are rounding halves toward positive infinity. but if you are rounding halves to even then i am still 20. also if you round to zero significant figures i am 0. but a positive zero, not a negative zero

is responsible inevitable if i want latitude? is spending goodwill inevitable if i want to assert myself?

i take the 1 train to work on most weekdays and there’s a specific conductor whose announcements i recognize, because he recites the stations in polytone with the same melody each time, lengthening stressed syllables by a beat more than usual. chrisssstopher streeeet stoooonewall, south ferry bound one train, the next stop willll beeee housssston streeeet. i’ve heard his voice for months now, and i wonder what it takes to make that announcement sound so dynamic every time you do it, when you do it multiple times a day, several days a week, for your job.
